MEDICAL DIRECTOR
Dr. Alyssa White
Dr. Alyssa White graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and has been practicing at Petcare Animal Hospital since. She has also earned her certificate in Fear Free Handling and strives to make every pet’s veterinary experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. She has special interests in behavior, preventive care, pain management, and hospice care.
Dr. White lives with her dog, Rosie, and her cat, Ivy. In her free time, she enjoys practicing agility with Rosie, hiking, camping, traveling, and coaching gymnastics.
ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN
Dr. Michael Leuthner
Dr. Michael Leuthner graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation, he participated in a one-year internship at a large referral practice on the east coast and spent another year as an intern mentor. He joined Petcare Clinics as an associate in 1997 and has been here ever since. He is proud that he has been able to be the familiar family veterinarian for generations of families. Dr. Leuthner has special interests in internal medicine, as well as endoscopy, ultrasound, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Leuthner lives with his wife (also a veterinarian), two teenage boys, two dogs, two cats, three horses, one miniature donkey, two freshwater fish tanks, and a resident fox. He enjoys spending time with his family and pets, fishing, photography, woodworking, and the outdoors.

Dr. Keith Gunby
Dr. Keith Gunby graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee in 1990. He enjoys working with all species of companion animals and has a special interest in providing patients with minimally invasive surgical options with the aid of rigid endoscopy technology.

Becky
Becky graduated from UW River Falls and Madison College with a Bachelor’s and Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in 2014. Some of you may recognize her from previous years worked here at Petcare. She has always been passionate about patient care and helping animals in need. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and hiking with her husband and dog Tucker.

Samantha

Sam
Sam grew up in Michigan and went to college in Missouri at Truman State University before moving to the Madison area. He has always loved animals, and is excited to have the opportunity to work in a position that helps pets live better lives. He recently adopted two kittens, Pants and Pencil, with his significant other, and he has two cats and a dog that live with his parents in Michigan. In his free time, he likes to play video games, listen to music or podcasts, and watch the Packers every weekend of the season!

Brea Mapes
Brea has been working at Petcare since 2017, and is currently pursuing her degree as a Certified Veterinary Technician. After graduating high school, she began volunteering at local humane societies, which inspired her to pursue her dream in veterinary medicine. In her free time, Brea enjoys spending time with her two cats, playing outdoor games, and hunting and fishing with her husband.

Nicola Brown
Nicola is a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Zoology with the intention of going to veterinary school. She has loved animals and has worked with them in a variety of settings since being a kid. In her free time, she enjoys playing collegiate polo and riding her horse.

Thea Jaslowski
Thea has had a passion for animal care her whole life, from volunteering at her local humane society as a child to advocating for the cats of Madison’s Cat Cafe as a young adult. She also volunteers with local organizations Community Cat and Shelter from the Storm to help numerous foster animals find their forever homes. She currently attends Madison College with the intent to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. In her free time, Thea enjoys making music with her indie folk band, crafting creative costumes, and giving lots of love to her kitties Spaghetti and Butternut.

Elizabeth
Elizabeth will be graduating from UW at the end of this summer, and plans to pursue veterinary school after gaining more experience in a veterinary clinic setting. She did gymnastics for 14 years, which inspired her interest in how the body works. Volunteering at animal shelters throughout high school and college fueled her passion for working with animals, so she decided to combine those interests and pursue a veterinary medicine path. She recently adopted a heartworm-positive dog, and looks forward to going on hikes and trips with her in the future.

Ally
Ally is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying zoology with plans to attend veterinary school. She has always loved animals and has previously worked with them through volunteering at a humane society and at a doggy daycare. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and being outdoors.

Lindsey
Lindsey is a pre-veterinary student at UW-Madison. In her free time, she enjoys playing collegiate polo through the University. She has three rats named Blanche, Dorothy, and Rose (from Golden Girls). They are all very affectionate, curious and love to play. She also has a horse named Ginger who knows some tricks including smiling, shaking her head to say “no” and Spanish walk.

Shelby
Shelby recently graduated from Madison West Highschool and decided to pursue a job in a veterinary clinic to explore the field of veterinary medicine. She has worked with animals her whole life through owning and raising pets, starting a project to rehome or spay/neuter local stray cats, and rehabilitating small birds and rabbits. She currently has four dogs, five ducks, five chickens, two mice, and a cat. She enjoys spending time hiking, walking throughout the arboretum with her ducks, caring for her plants, reading, and cuddling with her cat.

CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
Annie
Annie has been working as a CVT for the past 6 1/2 years. She has had the opportunity to work with a wide array of animals ranging from rabbits to camels and even a grizzly bear! Annie’s passions in veterinary medicine involve teaching and behavior. Annie has 1 dog, 1 cat and 2 horses of her own. In her spare time, she loves traveling with her friends and partner, Jake.
