ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN
Dr. Emma Svenson
Hi there, I’m Dr. Svenson, and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. After that, I dove into a small animal rotating internship at a local specialty hospital. Following that, I pursued a residency in laboratory animal medicine and worked as a relief small animal veterinarian. Alongside my clinical work, I completed a Master of Public Health and am currently working towards a PhD in epidemiology to complement my passion for preventive medicine. When I’m not busy with work, studying for board exams, or deep in research for my thesis, you can find me horseback riding, exploring new destinations, or simply enjoying quality time with my family.
I had other childhood aspirations but always in the top few was to be a veterinarian. I am happy to bring care to other special pets in addition to cats and dogs, like Ferrets, Rats, Rabbits and other small species pets!

CVT/INVENTORY MANAGER
Samantha
I’m Samantha, I have been working at Petcare since 2021 and have earned my CVT license in 2024. I have always been a huge animal lover and currently have two dogs (Daisy and Ivy) and three cats (Hailey, Miso, and Mochi). In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis with my fiancé, hiking, playing with my dogs, and baking.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Sarah
My name is Sarah, and I’m a CVT. I graduated from MATC in 2004 with an associates degree as a veterinary technician. I have enjoyed being able to constantly learn in our field- medicine is progressive and always changing! Through my career I’ve learned that even more than loving animals, the relationships I could build with owners is what meant the most to me! This is probably why along with my love of learning I decided to continue my nursing career from animals to human medicine! My goal in my career is to mentor other CVT’s to have strong skills and a really caring attitude towards one another. My hope is to continue doing CVT work part time even after graduating from nursing school. I love working with all animals, although rabbits are my favorite! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family-or finding new hiking spots! I hope to be a friendly face that you enjoy seeing and trust the care I’ll deliver to your animal family members.
I have always loved helping and teaching, though when I was a kid, I dreamt of being a chef! I came to veterinary medicine because as a CVT, I get to do all the “fun-stuff”!
Our Customer Service Representatives
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
Lorece
Hi! I’m Lorece, Customer Service Representative. I have a degree in Math from the University of Chicago. My career was co-owning and managing a retail store here in Madison for 38 years. In “retirement” I am happy to bring my customer service skills to Petcare Animal Hospital. I truly love helping pets and their people get the best care possible.
I grew up with an array of pets, though I was truly a horse-crazy kid and had no opportunity to pursue that passion until I won a riding lesson in a raffle! That raffle was held by a local group of Medieval reenactors of which I have been a member since I arrived in Madison, so my riding has featured Medieval Mounted Combat techniques.
Currently my household consists of me, my husband, Major Healy the Aussie Shepherd, and cats Magellan and duSable adopted from the barn where Gertie the Quarter Horse lives. I’m a very imaginative and colorful person – and when I was younger, I dreamed of being an Austraunot!

VETERINARY ASSISTANT
Kayla
Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a sophomore animal science student at UW Platteville.
I have loved animals my whole life but I didn’t know that I wanted to go into veterinary medicine until I was in my senior year of high school. Actually, for the longest time, I wanted to go into law enforcement and become a K9 cop. My interests changed when I discovered my love for veterinary medicine after working at an animal shelter and shadowing veterinarians. Even though I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to take, it always involved animals of some sort. Besides school, some of my hobbies include playing the piano, knitting, boating, and hiking. I have two dogs (Luna and Arizona) and two cats (Daisy and Marty).
VETERINARY ASSISTANT
Trina
Hello! My name is Trina, and I am a veterinary student at UW Madison. Most of my life these days revolves around studying, but when I get the opportunity, I love hanging out with my pets, exploring coffee shops, and traveling. I rescued my dog Fergus two years ago and, since then, taken in two cats under two from an overcrowded barn. Fergus and I love to head up to my family’s cabin and spend time boating or splashing in the water. I am excited to join the team and practice the skills and knowledge I gain in the classroom while giving your pets the best possible care.
As a kid, I was drawn to animals. Becoming a marine biologist or veterinarian was always at the top of my list. Therefore, after pet-sitting in my neighborhood and taking horseback riding lessons, I learned I wanted to care for animals for life!
